The Caribbean paradise archetype. Considered by many as the world's most beautiful beach, Varadero is, certainly, the Cuban tourist resort par excellence.

Located on the northernmost part of the island of Cuba, in the Matanzas province, Varadero Beach runs along the narrow Hicacos Peninsula for 22 Km (over 13.5 miles). It has a wide strip of fine, white sand that slopes gently into the sea, whose warm, clear waters encompass an incomparable range of blues.

Its main attraction has always been its marvelous beach, but this is not all it has to offer. Visitors can explore its caves and escarpments, a necklace of virgin keys that are easy to get to and the carefully preserved natural landscape at the northeastern end of the peninsula

Varadero's seabed is home to more than 40 kinds of corals, hundreds of species of fish, lobsters, shrimps, crabs and turtles, and more than 70 kinds of mollusks. Its main diving site is known as "Hoyo Azul" (blue hole), a huge 70-meter-wide cave that is famous for its underwater walls, coral reefs and schools of multicolored fish. In addition, the "Cayo Piedras del Norte Marine Park", the first and only attraction of its kind, covers an area of nearly two square nautical miles. This conditions makes of Varadero an exceptionally place for practice Scuba diving, deep-sea fishing, yachting and other water sports.

Marinas such as "Chapelin", "Dársena de Varadero" and "Puerto Sol" guarantee the perfect conditions and means to practice immersion, with appropriate vessels, trained personnel,and diving training centers.

But this white beach set against a backdrop of astonishing turquoise water and azure sky is not the only Varadero attraction. Currently the beach resort has reached an unprecedented growth, accompanied by the diversification and qualification of its tourism product.

In Varadero has been built the major hotel infrastructures on the island: first class hotels, cabarets, restaurants, different water activities, golf course, stores, a combination of options that satisfy the taste of a demanding vacationer. Among some of the complexes that stand out are the excellent services of the Melia Hotel Group like Meliá Las Americas, Paradisus Varadero, Tryp Península Varadero, and Paradisus Princesa del Mar among others.

Varadero is the perfect  "sun, sea and sand" destination, ideal for family tourism, couples, weddings and honey moon, and to participate in events and incentives.

Xanadu Mansion or Casa Dupont: Also known as Casa Dupont after its American millionaire owner, who owned a great part of the whole beautiful Hicacos Peninsula as well, this property was designed by architects Cavarrocas and Govantes. This four-story mansion completed in 1929 and named Villa Xanadú, was dressed with Italian marble and precious wood. The roof was covered with green ceramic tiles with thermal insulation. The house was surrounded by a huge garden with rare plants ad features which included an iguana farm and a golf course. In 1963 the Cuban government turned it into the most elegant restaurant in Varadero: Restaurant Las Américas specialized in French cuisine. The dining room still keeps its original furniture, and the library includes books and photographs of the Dupont family.

Varadero Golf Club: The first 18 hole Golf Course in Cuba was designed by architect Les Furber, President of the Canadian company Golf Design Services is located in Peñas de San Bernardino. The golf course combines different styles, including classical, with broad streets limited by trees, and wide and unprotected greens. The complement to the golf course is the Club House (Xanadu Mansion) where players meet after a golf session.

Plaza América Convention Center: This well appointed international convention centre incorporates shopping malls, restaurants and amusement spaces.

Marinas: Varadero host marinas such as "Chapelin", "Dársena de Varadero" and "Puerto Sol". They guarantee the perfect conditions and means to practice immersion, with appropriate vessels, trained personnel, and diving training centers.
Ambrosio's Cave: An archeological site, first used as a ceremonial spot by the area's primitive inhabitants and later by runaway slaves. This place has well preserved pictographs.
Josone Park: The quietest and most picturesque natural park in Central Varadero. The design is simple and there is a small lake, surrounded by palm trees. At the park several old mansions have been converted into restaurants.

Mangón Lagoon: A beautiful place where 19 species of migratory birds live, 12 species of endemic birds and 24 species of reptiles.

Municipal Museum: At this house it is explained the history of Varadero according to several degrees of interest. The collection includes some pictures of Fidel Castro, Che Guevara and Camilo Cienfuegos, who have stayed at Varadero during the 60s.
